Kitten trills cheerfully in response to the greeting. He might not exactly be happy to see her, but at least he's not fussing, which would've been harder to deal with.

Biffy, she thinks, ought to provide more explanation than that, but when he curls up stubbornly, she leaves off batting at him with a quiet, exasperated huff. She knows a lost cause when she sees one. Lyall, being both properly awake and sitting up, seems like a much safer bet, so she shifts her gaze to him, pointing at the door and letting out an insistent chirp. She holds one paw flat like a saucer and pantomimes lifting a cup with the other, then points again.

Downstairs, Daine begins to wonder if she ought to just stick her head out over the railing and bellow 'tea's ready' in an upwards direction, but she figures their awakening has already been rude enough. Lyall might end up moving in, and she's not entirely certain what that'll mean for her. If they do end up wanting the place to themselves, she doesn't want it to be because she was obnoxious. So she keeps an ear out, ready to intervene if it seems as if Kitten's upsetting them.
