Perhaps he's extraordinarily brave, or perhaps Rowan simply needs to explain to Daine that his best friend's favorite hobby back home was throwing himself off buildings. Rowan had only done it the once, found he didn't care for it, and moved on. But the fact remained that watching people fall to their deaths -- or jump in front of cars -- didn't faze him at all anymore. Including when that person was himself.

Rowan's cheeks flush ever so slightly at Daine's mention of a kiss for his efforts, but he manages not to make any foolish remarks in response. He's not magicked into telling her sweet truths, nor tipsy and loose-lipped. So for once, he's safe. He simply smiles a slightly awkward, embarrassed smile -- because he really shouldn't be making a big deal in his head about a throwaway comment like that, right? -- and nods at her instructions.

He walks on the other side of the retriever, waving off the driver who's still fuming at him for jumping in front of his car. But obviously the man's starting to run out of steam and move on, which is all the better for everyone involved.

They get to the alcove and Rowan by something like reflex gives the dog a pat on the head. "What now?" He's really at a loss when it comes to anything remotely medicinal.
